When a scene is started by a Guide, they will begin a new thread listing the location at which the scene will take place, followed by a title for the scene, or, in the absence of a title, by the date on which the scene takes place in MM/DD/YYYY format.
At the top of the thread, they will provide the date on which the scene will take place and a time of day at which it starts. After this, they will give a brief description of the location, or provide a link to a webpage which holds location information. They will also give you a list of any NPC’s present, and a brief description of who they are, or a webpage URL where there is information about them, and finally any special notices that apply to the scene, like the fact it takes place in a locked room, or is only open to certain kinds of characters.
And example of how a Guide will begin a new scene is given below:

---------------------------------------------------
Title: Fountaine House – Sun Rising
Date: 08/08/2005
Time: 5.15AM
Location: Fountaine House – http://www…..
NPC’s: Celiné – http://www…...
Sebastian Fountaine - http://www…..
Notices: Takes place in a locked room at the back of Fountaine House, all characters should knock for admittance.
---------------------------------------------------

Players are welcome to begin scenes of their own that take place in Guide-managed locations such as Fountaine House or Euterpe’s Café, at a location important to their character such as a family home or place of work. Players may also invent locations within the city for scenes to take place at, such as a shop, a bar or a warehouse.
Players should follow the posting guidelines that apply to the Guides as closely as possible, and must also provide a link to their character’s public profile with the other information in the scene header.
Players are welcome to create and play any ‘throwaway’ NPC’s that they wish, such as a bartender, or take temporary control of an NPC relevant to their character that will normally be played by the Guide, such as a spouse or sister. However, please note that Guides may take possession of these NPC’s during the scene, and if you can, it’s always best to check if the Guides would like to be involved in playing these characters before the scene begins. Although this isn’t necessary, it’s always nice to ask :)
If there are these kinds of NPC’s present, or you have agreed with the Guides that you can start a scene with Guide-controlled NPC’s (like Celiné or Benoît) present, then these NPC’s must be listed as well. An example is given below:

---------------------------------------------------
Title: Abandoned Warehouse – 08/09/2005
Date: 08/09/2005
Time: 7.15PM
Location: An abandoned warehouse along the riverside in Watchwater. A large, empty space that was once used to store car parts, now all it contains is dust, rats, and the sound of the summer rain rattling on the rusting, corrugated iron roof.
NPC’s: Francisco – A small-scale drug dealer
James – One of his thugs

Character Name: Robert Winchapel
Character Profile: http://www…..
---------------------------------------------------

When replying to an existing thread, all you must do is give your character name and profile URL in a header above your post. When a Guide reply’s to an existing thread, they may state the NPC that they will be playing for the duration of their post, or may give no header and play multiple NPC’s as well as providing setting information.

Within the main body of your post, you should try, where possible, to format your text so that actions are unaugmented, and speech is provided inside double quotations (“), in short, the way you would write if you were writing a story. You should also try to use double carriage returns when starting a new paragraph, as this improves the way posts are displayed on the forum.

It may all seem very complicated, but it’s really not that bad. If you’re in any doubt, just look at what everyone else is doing, or ask the Guides for assistance, and no one’s going to bite your head off for making one or two mistakes.
