The custodian of Angharad’s
personal library, he looks as if he’s in his
mid-twenties with short spiky hair and a cheap suit,
and vaguely confused about the whole affair. Only
a very few people have ever seen him, just marginally
more than have been inside Angharad’s personal
library (which probably means you could count them
if you were willing to take your shoes and socks off).
Although he’s really little more than a rumour,
the rumour has it that he knows were every single
book in that library is, and gets very upset if they’re
put back in the wrong place.
Like all the best rumours, it’s not an entire
fiction. The Librarian is a reanimate constructed
at Angharad’s exacting request, and very cutting
edge for the time. The Librarian is Angharad’s
personal library – the books are a mere distraction.
Every single word of Angharad’s tomes can be
recalled and reproduced instantly by the Librarian,
and only ever at his command. He combines the advanced
storage potential of modern micro-technology with
human judgement and understanding, giving the sort
of advanced searching, security, archiving and indexing
services that Google has wet dreams about. He also
makes a very effective guard dog of both himself and
the books, and has been given the ability to perceive
the astra as well as other perception enhancements
in order to ascertain someone’s true identity,
and any requests from unauthorised persons is liable
to meet with a fatal refusal.
