Beginning - Andred MacGregor |
Born in a rural town in the Republic
of Ireland in 1981, when Chris was ten years old,
his family home burnt to the ground and he was left
an orphan. Adopted by a rich, middle-class family
in London, Chris moved away from his homeland, and
hasn't been back since.
Showing an artistic talent and temperament from a
young age, his adopted family nonetheless wanted him
to make a career for himself as a lawyer, so when
he had finished his A Levels, he found himself at
Cambridge University studying law.
There, he met an ambitious software designer named
Carter Francis, started work on his first collection
of poems, 'Last Dance', and began failing his exams
in spectacular style. By the time Carter graduated
with First Class Honours in 2001, Chris had left Cambridge,
published his collection of poems, and moved out to
Japan to try and escape the pressures put on him by
his adopted family.
While out there, he gained his introduction to the
Secret World from a young Kuni-Tzu-Kami Dawva of the
Kawa-no-Kami clan at the foot of Mount Fuji. Chris
spent many months with the Daeva, Kazuo Takahoshi,
and became a dedicated follower of Shinto before the
two were forced to part and Chris returned to England
to publish a collection of poems with a decidedly
Japanese flavour, 'Year After Year'.
Once back in the UK, he worked tables in a London
restaurant, determined not to fall back on a family
that saw him as a disappointment. Here, he met up
again with Carter Francis. Carter was heading out
to the States to work for a pre-eminent software company
in Louisiana, and offered Chris the opportunity to
go along with him. With little left for him in the
UK, Christmas left for America where he has led a
big of a double life ever since - playing the part
of the perfect host and boyfriend while Carter is
in town, and becoming an extroverted, artistic Fantast
when he's away. In fact, when Chris isn't found at
Euterpe's, the gatherings at his Fountain District
home are open to every Fantast in the city, and have
gained a bit of a reputation as being the only place
where Fantasts from different organisations and beliefs
can mix without conflict.
Standing just shy of 6ft tall,
pale and willowy of build, but with an inner glow
and vivacity, Chris has pitch-black hair that reaches
his waist and eyes every bit as dark. He has lost
all the a trace of his native Irish accent, which
only tends to surface when he loses his temper. When
Carter is in town, he dresses almost uniformly in
white in accordance with his partners wishes, but
when left to his own devises, he dresses as the mood
takes him, and many people that know him have a job
even recognising him.
