Sister Awake - Tea Party |
To
much of the city of New London, Asarte at Amen is
a quiet figurehead for the community and a respected
representative of what the city aspires to be.
She holds many positions within the local community
including managing the running of Havre Public Library
and community arts centre. She is also the curator
of the library's collection of ancient Egyptian manuscripts
and artefacts as well as being a respected Egyptologist.
Few people in New London know that she is also a prominent
figure in the city's Pagan community, where she furthers
the study of Egyptian religion and magic, and fewer
still know that she is in fact a Daeva of the Dekan
household who traces her history back to the early
Victorian Age where she was an English adventuress
uncovering the secrets of the pyramids.
Today, Asarte has devoted her life to the mortal population
of New London, offering them a place to learn and
develop their creative talent. She shares much of
this work at the library and community centre with
an Osirian named Margarite, with whom she shares a
particularly close relationship. She has come to consider
the safety and development of New London as her lifetime
goal, although how she came to the city and why its
people hold such an esteemed place in her heart remains
a mystery.
Looking
at her, it is almost impossible to spot Asarte's English
heritage. With her long black hair framing wide, dark
eyes, and skin the colour of honeyed caramel, she
looks every bit the Egyptian historian that she claims
to be. She is always more than impeccably turned out,
wearing mainly white dresses or cream skirt-suits
with small amounts of golden, Egyptian-styled jewellery
adorning her hair, and about her wrists and throat.
