Our Lady and St Vincent
Catholic Church
The beautiful, unique
church of Our Lady and St Vincent rests on the northernmost
outskirts of the city. Built almost as soon as the
city was founded in the mid 1700's in the style
of the Montreal Mariner's Church in Quebec by an
unknown architect, St Vincent's brings a little
of the great, dusty churches of Europe to the heart
of Louisiana.
Inside, the old church is filled day and night with
the chill of carved stone, the flicker of candlelight
and the heady, smoky smell of incense. Here, the
city's Catholic population comes to worship, prey
and take confessional, and people of all faiths
come to light candles, ask for prayer and admire
the unique architecture and beautiful artwork hanging
on the cold stone walls.
St Vincent's is almost always open, and its resident
priest, Father Jacob Pastorson is always on hand
to listen, advise and console. No more than thirty-five
years old with short-cropped brown hair and restless
dark eyes, Father Pastorson is one of the city's
seemingly untainted souls. To the city's Angels,
Father Pastorson is even more of an ally, a former
Bathory Dhampir, Jacob is both much older than he
looks, and is in possession of a rare gift that
allows, or forces him at all times to see into the
deepest levels of the Reverie, perceiving more of
the wandering, Dead Souls from the lands of the
living than even the most talented of Ghuls. Because
of this, Father Pastorson is most possibly the most
talented, useful Fantast in the city, and the Angels
are careful to see that he's well looked after .
. . and well protected.
