Fountaine
House
Just beyond the limits
of the city of New London, rests the crumbling plantation
where, over the past two hundred years, people have
tried and failed to produce a crop of almost everything
that was considered able to grow in the area from
sugarcane to cotton to the indigo who's flowers still
dapple the pale marble used to build the ageing Fountaine
Plantation House. Home to seven generations of the
Fountaine family, the plantation was abandoned in
the late 1940's when the family died out and everyone
else was forced to accept that nothing good would
ever grow in this part of the Louisiana marshlands.
Not long after the estate was abandoned, it was bought
by a woman calling herself Celiné, who has
since gone on to return the grand, neo-classical Georgian
house to its former glory. The current residents of
Fountaine House are very secretive and for the most
part, the residents of New London know nothing of
the dealings that go on in its grounds.
New London's unliving, however, know differently.
The mansion, with its crumbling marble draped in Spanish
Moss and wisteria, it's gardens whispering with mimosa,
climbing roses and jasmine, and its grand Gerogian-decorated
rooms, has become the centre for the city's Court
of Night.
Many of the rooms on the ground floor, lit by candlelight
and with the marshland mist drifting in through the
French windows, are open to any Vampire, Revenant
or Ghul that wishes to use them to meet or retreat,
while much of the rest of the mansion remains a mystery
even to the undead, the sole domain of the King and
Queen; the enigmatic Angharad Williams and the dangerously
sensuous Celiné. However, it is rumoured that,
since the recent alliance with the Ghuls, Sebastian
Fountaine may also be found wandering the dusty, jasmine-scented
rooms that remain off-limits to many of even the city's
most influential Vampires and Revenants.
